TABC :: Texas Seller Server Course topics

This curriculum is designed to meet the needs of employees that sell, serve, dispense, or deliver alcoholic beverages under the authority of a license or permit, including persons who immediately manage, direct, supervise, or control the sale or service of alcoholic beverages. Our goal, as your esteemed training provider, is to make sure that you understand your responsibilities as sellers, servers, and managers, and know the techniques to carry out those responsibilities.
  1. Correctly define terms used in this section of the course.
  2. Describe the purpose, goals, and rules for seller-server training and certification.
  3. State the intent of Texas laws concerned with preventing alcohol sales to minors, intoxicated persons, and non-members of a private club.
  1. Given a scenario, state if a sale of alcohol is legal or illegal with regards to a minor.
  2. Use observations to detect that a minor is attempting to purchase alcohol.
  3. Correctly identify if an ID is valid and proper for purposes of establishing age.
  4. Recall that possession, use, manufacture, or misuse of an ID is an illegal act.
  5. Given a scenario, select appropriate intervention techniques with regards to a minor attempting to purchase alcohol.
  1. Describe how seller-servers are responsible for the acts of their customers (Dram Shop Act).
  2. Given a scenario, state if a sale of alcohol is legal or illegal with regards to an intoxicated person.
  3. Define blood alcohol concentration (BAC) and list factors that affect BAC in individuals.
  4. Use observations to detect if a person is intoxicated.
  5. Given a scenario, select appropriate intervention techniques for preventing sales to intoxicated persons
  1. Identify the requirements for selling an alcoholic beverage for delivery and to-go orders.
  2. How to properly check and document identification for delivery orders containing alcoholic beverages.
  3. Recall that there are private club rules for serving members and non-members.

STEP 1:

REGISTER AND COMPLETE THE COURSE

After you complete the course – after 14 days, you will be able to see your proof of certification on the official TABC website which shows your name, date-of-birth, and certificate number. This ensures that you have completed and passed the course. You can view proof of certification online through their website using the following steps:

PROOF OF CERTIFICATION

  1. Visit the TABC website by clicking here.
  2. Click on “Certificate Inquiry” located on the left.
  3. Enter your Social Security Number without any dashes (999999999) and Date-of-Birth using the following format: mm/dd/yyyy.
  4. View proof of certification.
